I do believe Darkwood is the first Terror-themed game. Horror-themed ones usually have jumpscares and sudden noises. In Darkwood, you hear them. They're outside, they try to get in, to get you. You can tell they know you're in there, but turning off the lights will lead to your doom. You are alone, and you know they will come, it's only a matter of where, and when.
How it feels to make it through the all nighter to fix your sleep schedule:
Citadel of Eternity, Khorne Fury curse, Warrior Priest, BY MY FAITH.
Jigga Nones as a username is crazy.
No recordaba lo bien que se sentía esto
This is the only way it could have ended. Escape was never an option, only ashes will remain of the Being and of the cursed woods it made.
I love that U see Victor, could be the others on the artwork but lets be honest... if one shall stand as the last one alive, that one is 100% Victor.
all roads lead deeper into the forest :)
this song still fills me with a sense of melancholic relieve, still shook about the things that happened last night
I wish Battlefield 5 was as metal as this game
I have something programmed so that after my alarm (which is the same tone as the game) this great song plays in the background
This shit is so cool, love the choir
Whenever I play with my friends theme😂
“The hardest choices requires the strongest wills” -Thanos
Ah yes, I remember being in engines of war in vermintide 1, everyone died near the bridge, so I went to the basement, when the hordes started I just started chopping heads and bashing with the executioners blade until the bell toll I don't even know how I managed to deal with the ashins...
10 years later hold up o7
I hopped into this after beating NWN2. I thought I've seen the worst ending of all time until I beat this game.
I know there’s so many other stories about people surviving nights that are better than this, but fuck it we ball. I’m still going through this game and I just recently made it to the silent forest. I was coming back to my hideout after exploring the pig farm and I was hunkered down in my base for the night. I heard something knocking on the door and, because last time that meant I got a code for a door I couldn’t open, I went to go check it out. For some further context, I had barricaded every entrance door into my hideout and the only way I could leave was a window at the bottom of the house. I ran outside and saw that there was some sort of half human-half bird creature there that started screaming when it saw me. I immediately ran back into my base and ran into the main room I was hiding in, frantically pushing the bathtub against the door to try to keep that thing out, but it followed me inside. Knowing I had no option left, I pulled out my pistol and shot it, only to have it explode into several baby skeletal crows. Just as they surrounded me though, the sun rose and this song started playing. The amount of relief I felt in that moment can’t be described. I love every second of this game.
This was also used in the genestealer cults reveal trailer
idk why but when you're left alone or only with your buddy withing an arm's length to eachother, you literally play like you're not yourself was fighting as WHC with my friend's GK against Umgor tribe today (why tf so many banners, sigmar have mercy) - it took us 5 whole minutes to clear the stage (they were in constant enrage, despite our backpedalling), while the other two were flaming at eachother in voice chat that felt good
So far, this is the only game that makes me wanna go out of the hideout, but I wont because the feeling of safety is stronger. It makes me question comfort and it usually creates an inner turmoil when I think about this game as a whole experience. Truly unique.
it might sound strange what I'm about to say but I actually don't come from Darkwood I come from S.T.A.L.K.E.R G.A.M.M.A but I do have to say, it still kinda fit's the theme of the game
Always reminds me of Ironbreaker on Castle Drachenfels with the Gargoyle heads on Cataclysm. I survived like a solid 15 minutes and I saw so many times my healthbar go from almost 0 back to full temp health. I even managed to get up teammates occasionally but they were not able to handle themselves due to how much has accumulated down there at this point. We might have not won this one but that was some amazing fun. Made it even better the cheering from the strangers and Bardins taunts througout the fighting
A new dnd tradition is born whenever everyone is down except for one player the battle theme or boss theme will change to this
You have no idea how happy I feel seeing the fact I got 10 likes from this thank you 🥰
I have constantly thought about using this while I DM
I just put this when all but one of my party members were down. The last was the rogue and he was on 1 hp. Best moment ever (We won)
AS LONG AS IM STANDING, YOURE DEAD RATS WALKING!
Champion, final stretch of winds of magic, my allies have fallen, and a massive horde on me as i have to destroy the last bundle of banners to clear, my allies telling me its over as im swarmed, but i tell them its not over till its over, as i destroy each banner one by one, taking damage along the way until i manage to destroy the last banner and survive the end, shouting for victory once i made it, it was amazing.
The biggest mistery in this game is how flamethrower owner actually survived until the point player arrives.
Same way as the player I suppose, living off the land or trading with the villagers (they're both soldiers and from the same team, so they've been trained for similar situations). Or maybe, the being consumes sleepers at a very slow rate since it needs them to survive and there aren't many people living in the woods in the first place (it has to ration them out in a way). The flamethrower guy could've reached the heart of the woods days or weeks before the player does, and he's there the whole time, slowly consumed by the being before the stranger arrives and burns everything to the ground.
@@bigswigg3631 sounds plausible, thanks!
@@bigswigg3631 also the namw of the guy us Macarov
What game is this? Looks funny as shit
Lethal Company
I swear I had cata games where the Director was sleeping then suddenly 0:40 hits
a shame that everyone quits before this matters
Through out all the horror games I've played the past few years, some were scary, some had decent jumpscares, others very good atmosphere that have brought fear but only for a second or a minute. Darkwood has been the only horror game the past decade to truly terrify me, from the overcautious nature of every sound, step or breaking branch. The darkness of night where every minor thing scared the life out of me. No jumpscares or cheap fear tactics, its ruthless, unforgiving world and atmosphere reached deep within me personally. Darkwood is so damn interesting in its world that I kept playing to see what's next or explore, but of course it was so damn scary it was hard to push forward until I made my curiosity outweigh my fears. Such a masterpiece on every front.
My grandad who was 80, really enjoyed this song because of how peaceful it is. I said: “yeah, it’s called morning.”
"Drakira! Guide my strikes, I've blood to repay!"
Everybody else talks about the moment this song brings to mind so here's mine: I was playing chaos wastes as Sienna with some friends and we got to the citadel of eternity pretty easily. but as we got to the last arena, a troll showed up with the cloning trait and lifesteal. as we fought, one of the clones knocked everyone grouped on another off the edge of the citadel, leaving me the only standing player, unable to help them up. So I proceeded to fight for my life against the troll , its clones, and some skaven we didn't clean up earlier with very low health, and somehow managed to come out on top.
Yes, the ' glorious but you about to get majorly fked' moment 😂
That oh shit moment
"You think im afraid of being alone? Come ! I'll show you how scared i am."
Be warned, raki! Losing my friends has put me in a foul mood!
I let out a sigh of relif knowing that I survived the night, but not yet the day
This song gives you a feeling I’m sad a lot of gamers won’t get. Just once, in your entire gaming career, you need to be playing Vermintide, have your team die, and fight tooth and nail on Legend just to bring them back.
"We need to stick together, Brother."
Stayed up the whole night till 6 am and just got called into work. I’ll be listening to this again on my hour long walk there. Made it through another night and got to watch a beautiful morning arise and they recently asked me to become manager there. Things are looking up but that doesn’t mean the grind should stop or slow down. I must keep going put in hard work towards the direction I want. This is a similar feeling I get from surviving the night in the game and a soundtrack this beautiful will always give me motivation. Fear is apart of life if you didn’t have it you could not be brave or alive for that matter.
there is something deeply satisfying about taking a flamethrower to the evils and horrors that tormented you
Do you think this music is good? Me: *He nods*
Sigmar, be with me!
"We need to stick together, Brother."
I never finished this game but the atmosphere is unforgettable
Something about this song simultaneously screams "I'm on the way out!" and "I'LL TURN THIS WHOLE FUCKING WORLD TO DUST AS LONG AS YOU'RE STILL ON IT WHEN I DO." I like this.
“Damn Mayfiles! Always getting themselves killed!… Oh wait…” Kerillian in a nutshell
the 21 that disliked this masterpiece i just want to talk with them 'loads the 12 guage'
